BRING THE ER TO THE STREET

The Homeless Voice has learned a lot about COVID-19 and testing. So what do we do next with our medical outreach? A lot of homeless people die of things when they can be tested and treated on the spot. There is no reason to die. However, getting a homeless person to an ER or urgent care can become very difficult to do so. So what do we do, we will bring the testing to them. So we are now upgrading our medical outreach. I can’t tell you how many homeless people I know who have died from a UTI,
( Urinary Tract Infection), they simply have an infection and it goes untreated and they become septic.

The nice part about this testing is, most of it is rapid testing and can be done by anyone and they do not have to be licensed to give the test out. We also became certified with our sister lab to do covid testing that goes to the lab. So we can do rapid testing on COVID and the PCR lab test that takes a day or two. Now we will be able to test for Strep, The Flu, UTI’s and other testing. We will also be doing blood tests as well. We intend to continue our prevention services with EKG’s, diabetic and Blood pressure checks. We will look to expand prevention services as well.

Once the results come in, we simply call or video call the doctor for a prescription. Sometimes we will have a doc on board with us.
Soon we hope to go to paramedic school and become certified to transport the homeless to the ER for better assistance. It takes time but I feel this needs to be done. We will be saving lives. Thanks to all of you who have donated to us so we can keep on growing and enhance our services.
